Date More Than One Person

I got married at age 25 after dating only 1 guy exclusively.  Note to women and men of all legitimate dating age:  PLEASE do not date only 1 person before you get engaged or married.  Please don't.  You may find the person you choose to marry on your first date, but it would greatly benefit your entire life to date several others before you settle on 1 person.

I will talk about this more later, either here or in my personal blog that is not geared for the whole family.  There are no posts about it today on 3/1/14, but there will be eventually:

My First Crushes and High School Boys

I had crushes on boys whom are now my friends or just acquaintances.  I think my first 'crush' was on a fellow homeschool kid named Joshua.  My sister and his sister teased us a lot though, and that was really embarrassing.  My second childhood crush was a boy from down the road named 'Greg' and I mostly liked him because he was funny and confident.

I liked the boys who ran around playing outside all the time more than boys from church who pelted the girls with pinecones and snowballs after church when our parents were gabbing with one another.

My high school crushes were almost all mean to me, and I barely had any crushes at all in high school.  I was the subject/object of their teasing, ridicule, and persecution.  Several of those boys passed their prejudice against me on to their friends and their girlfriends, so I was teased by people I didn't even know and never interacted with before.  This I endured for two of my three years of high school.

I was painfully reserved/self-conscious until my senior year when I finally had some friends who were unconditionally kind to me.  Thank you Joneil, Nicki, Jenni, Aimee & Erin, and Tanya.

I love Animals

I have always been allergic to animals, even though I love them.  I had my own horse whom I sadly SADLY never rode.  I had a dog whom I still miss.  I had several really beautiful, healthy, well-behaved cats.  I had two Guinea Pigs who showed me a 'Where the Red Fern Grows' type of love.

Some animals I WISH we could have as pets, were it legal in our country:  Porcupine, Owl, Fox, Skunk...I want a hedgehog too, but I hear they commonly become ill and die.  I don't want to have a constant running pet-store bill and sadness over little spiked pets leaving us.

In the future I hope to have dogs, maybe a cat or two, and possibly more birds (maybe finches).  How does it work though, to have birds, when you have a cat?  I think if my allergies--and my older son's allergies--can handle a cat, we'd have to forego having birds for a while.

Hesitation: Leaving home

After I graduated I was such a home-body I was too content to be at home to branch out and leave for college, plus I was stuck in a mindset of wanting to 'assist' in the high school music program.  Because of this, I spent a lot of my free time in the high school playing the piano for various groups of choir students and prepping with them for their concerts.

I loved helping my favorite teacher as much as she would allow.  Mrs. Carmen Domek tolerated me being there and I could tell at first she didn't seem to mind me being at the school most days, but after a while I believe she expressed to my parents and/or to me that I seemed to be wasting my life there.  I am sure she found a very kind and thoughtful way to express this, but to me at the time it was a huge blow and I felt embarrassed and scolded.
